With the dynamics of the sun

Heat pumps with thermodynamic panels are the top choice in efficiency and savings for space heating, water and swimming pool.

Thermodynamic systems offer the best alternative for energy savings of up to 90% (with respect to oil solutions), having a high efficiency and a COP of up to 11!

This technology is particularly environmentally friendly and extremely profitable. It delivers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, maintaining the temperature conditions we need at a very low cost as it works fully automatically only when circumstances require it, relieving the consumer of the ever increasing oil supply costs and the constant maintenance and cleaning other forms of heating require, substantially upgrading its quality of life.

These systems, based on the operation of the heat pump philosophy but using thermodynamic panels for the role of the evaporator, which absorb large amounts of energy from the heat of the environment and the helium, make them separate in the market and manage and operate continuously with high performance.

Principle of thermodynamic cycle operation

Thermodynamic systems work by absorbing energy from the sun (or from the surrounding area), rendering it multiplied to the user. The basic innovation of the equipment is the use of a passive exhaust element on the outside called the Thermodynamic Panel. The water drainage of the panels does not flow but the ecological refrigerant (R134a) of the heat pump.

Their principle of operation is based on the combination of the benefits of heat pumps and solar systems. During sunshine, the COP yields values that no competitive technology is capable of succeeding, and the total electricity consumption of the plant falls, minimizing the total amount paid by a typical Greek home for heating. As it is claimed, their combination results in these products delivering up to 20% more efficiency than conventional heat pumps. The innovation of these systems lies in the very high coolant evaporation temperatures achieved by the solar panels during sunshine, bringing the system performance downright, while overnight or adverse weather conditions, their large surface allows for continued normal operation and system performance, as long as the outside temperature is less than five degrees Celsius.

The patented design of the slopes of the thermodynamic panel allows it to be placed in any direction and without loss, thus facilitating architectural design and improving the aesthetic result.

System selection

The Energy Panel GTC, GTC HT, and GTC HT Plus models are space heating or water heating systems that adapt to the existing or new boiler / boiler.

Applications: Ideal for heating water in professional facilities (hotels, business buildings, industries, sports centers, etc.) and space heating in new green houses using a floor heating system, fan coil, or low-temperature buildings (domestic installations). Maximum permanent operating temperature is 55 ° C for GTC, and 67 ° C for GTC HT. The new plant is depreciated by the amount saved annually (relative to oil) in 4-6 years! A GTC system can replace (or compare with) the boiler-boiler system of the existing plant requiring very small changes. In particular, the GTC HT Plus series has a built-in Buffer Boiler for optimal operation of the machine by the machine itself, thus relieving the owner of the cost of purchasing automation.

Installation Data

The total heated area of the house is 150sqm. Prior to the upgrading of the system, an oil boiler with panel radiators was operating.

The owner wanted a system to get rid of 100% of oil. Due to the type of heaters, the use of the GTC HT system with the ability to heat water at 65 ° C was chosen. The oil boiler remains connected to back up in the event of extreme cold conditions.

In order to calculate the thermal requirements of the building, factors such as the total air-conditioned surface, location (climatic data, TEE source) were taken into account.

Building elements of residence

– External wall 20cm with insulation 5cm

– Interior wall 10cm

– Simple glass with metal frame

– Wooden balcony doors with double glazing

– Insulated floor

– Roof insulated with tiles

– Explosion air penetration coefficient

– Metallic

– Opening penetration coefficient

– Metallic watertight

– Building blur

– Typical, exposed

If any of the above does not apply, the thermal needs of the house and therefore the thermodynamic system change.

We also calculated the house’s needs for the lowest outside ambient temperature at 0 ° C and a room temperature of 20 ° C.

The unit was selected according to the Energy panel data regarding the thermal power of the unit for 65 ° C water outlet temperature.

Proposed system and coverage of needs

Once the study has been done to calculate the thermal losses of the house now we can choose the appropriate pump to meet our thermal needs.

Thus the system chosen is the thermodynamic group: GTC HT 12 with a thermal capacity of 15,400W and a nominal power of 3,560W.

– The thermodynamic system provides the energy required to achieve 100% coverage throughout the year.

– The total annual savings for the system is 1,949 €.

– The reduction of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere is 4.0 tonnes per year.

Economy and Environment

The use of solar-assisted heat pumps is the most economical and eco-friendly, reliable way of heating.

Thanks to the reduction of energy consumed to produce the same project, using the energy already present in the environment, the energy footprint of our home or installation is minimized, while at the same time we do not burden urban tissue with harmful gaseous effluents and microparticles, reducing emissions carbon dioxide which is the main responsible for the so-called “greenhouse effect”.

The larger the hot water needs, the more money is saved by the pioneering use of thermodynamic equipment. In this way we contribute to the protection of the environment and we benefit economically, due to the energy savings of these products.
